I purchased this vehicle locally from an owner who had the vehicle in storage for the last 6 years. Now after 8 months of work, this mildly modified BMW has become an absolute joy to drive.

It’s history is more of a mystery, with the clues being very confusing, as it is titled as a 1972 BMW 2002, the vin indicates it maybe a rare Tii Model. However, the only items that seem to qualify this are the dash and the fully boxed rear trailing arms (both easily transferred). Of course it also features a snorkel and the early remote style brake booster and early six fuse system, so I’d say it’s doubtful. Nevertheless, I’ll leave it to the experts to debate, and I’ll just enjoy it for what it is, a fun little car with a couple of oddities.

The strut and shock towers are perfect, as are the rocker panels, and even the trunk has escaped the typical rust through found under the spare tire holder.

This model is free of the of the U.S spec reflectors found on later models, and includes flush euro turn signals, and a very cool Webasto sliding Sunroof.

Many of the seals were replaced during a recent glass-out and engine out re-spray, including the front and rear windshield seals, the trunk seal, and the long under hood seal (it still needs the door seals and the two short under hood seals).

Additionally, all the belt line molding hardware and rocker clips were replaced, along with several other items including a new antenna, new wipers, new license plate lights, and a new engine label set (still waiting for the correct labels for the fuse and color to arrive).

This is a beautiful car overall, but it is not perfect, built as a driver it is not without its small collection of 33 year old flaws.

The interior is in very nice condition. All the seats have been re-upholstered and completely re-built, with the horsehair being removed and replaced with shaped foam for durability and comfort. A new Black 14 piece carpet kit has been installed with new pedal pad and a new rear parcel tray. The door panels remain free of any speaker holes and the center console is in very nice condition.

All of the seat belts are intact and fully functional, and all of the knobs and controls appear to be in working order, including the flashing red hazard switch, and the two speed wipers (though the heater fan has stopped - probably due to lack of use).

The Tii clock was sent out for a repair and never made it back, so you’ll want to add that to your list of ebay searches, and of course the dash has several small cracks typical to our desert life.

The Webasto Sliding sunroof is a really great feature. It is manually operated and simply slides forward and back on a track with one latch to secure it closed. The headliner is completely new, and the unit looks great offering the closest thing to top down fun!

The car starts instantly, and drives wonderfully. It has great power, and it remains easy to power through all the gears (no grinding synchros here!).

The suspension was lowered with a full Jamex kit; including coils, struts and shocks. It stops straight, and steers effortlessly. The parking brake works and the brake system has been recently serviced and completely flushed.

The engine has so many new items it’s hard to remember them all. The 32/36 Weber has been rebuilt, and the battery and cables are all new, and the regulator is new.

The engine has been tuned and serviced with all new Bosch parts including plugs, points, rotor, cap and wires to ensure more trouble free driving.

The fuel lines and filter have been replaced, and the radiator and many of the hoses were replaced for summer, so it continues to run cool even in the heat of the Vegas desert.
